5 Baking Resolutions for the New Year

 

For many, it’s tradition to come up with a list of things we want to achieve for the New Year.  It can be anything we want to improve in our personal or professional lives.

The same holds true for baking because there’s always an opportunity to up your game. That’s why we challenge you to pick up some new techniques and baking trends this year. Here’s a list to help take your baking skills to the next level.

 

#1 Mirror Glaze Cakes

Imagine a cake so smooth and shiny that you can see your reflection on the surface. It’s all thanks to mirror glaze, made from white chocolate, gelatin, and condensed milk. Add food coloring and achieve all sorts of gorgeous designs like the ones on Sugar Geek Show!

#2 Caramelizing Sugar

First, we want to give you fair warning that hot sugar can be a bit tricky, but there’s no reason why you can’t learn this baking skill. Caramelized sugar has all sorts of applications.
