Black Forest Bars
Ingredients
- 1 pack MAYA Decadence Brownie Mix
- ¼ cup water
- 1 tablespoon cherry brandy
- 1 piece egg
- 1/3 cup butter
- ¼ cup chopped cherries
For Cherry Liqueur Syrup
- ½ cup sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- ¼ cup cherry brandy
For Cherry Whipped Cream
- 1 cup whipping cream chilled
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- ¼ cup chopped cherries
- whole cherries for toppings
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350° F/177°C. Grease and line an 8×8 square pan. Set aside
- In a bowl, mix together, brownie mix, water, cherry brandy, egg, butter and chopped cherries. Mix until well-blended.
- Pour the brownie mixture into prepared pan and bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted at the center comes out clean.
- To prepare Cherry Liqueur Syrup: In a small sauce pan, mix sugar and water and let it simmer over medium heat until sugar is melted. Turn-off the heat then add cherry brandy. Stir and let it cool. Set aside.
- To prepare Cherry Whipped Cream: In a bowl, whip chilled whipped cream and powdered sugar using a hand mixer until it becomes stiff. Cut and fold chopped cherries to the whipped cream. Divide it into tw0 parts, 1 part will be used for filling and the other half will be for piping. Set aside.
- Remove brownie out of the oven and transfer it in a cooling rack. Gently brush it with the prepared Cherry Liqueur Syrup then let it cool.
- Once the brownie cools down, slice it in the middle horizontally and gently spread the half of the Cherry Whipped Cream on to one part of the brownie, then sandwich it with the other half portion of the brownie. Cut into bars.
- Place the remaining cherry whipped cream into a piping bag with star tip. Pipe cherry whipped cream on top of each black forest bars and place a whole cherry on top of the cream. Best serve chilled.
